GSAAA’s student-oriented component of its website was recently redesigned, integrating important information customized to the needs of international students. GSAAA urges all educational institutions to maintain their commitment to disseminating essential information to international students as we prepare to achieve full compliance with the ESOS Act and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students.
This will contribute to their overall well-being and a smooth adjustment into Australian student life. Some significant areas to focus on are as follows:
1. Accommodation Planning: Encourage overseas students to take proactive actions before they arrive in Australia to discover suitable accommodations that fulfill their tastes and requirements. This aggressive effort will assist them in locating acceptable homes once they arrive.
2. Scam Awareness: Provide students with the knowledge and expertise they need to spot and prevent common scams that target international students. This covers visa, immigration, course fees, and accommodation and rental conditions scams.
3. Requirements for On-Campus Study: Clearly convey the requirements for on-campus course attendance and academic success. This will assist pupils in understanding and adhering to the requirements required for academic achievement.
4. Safety and Support in Shared Housing: It is critical to educate international students on how to stay safe and seek help when living in shared housing. Give them the knowledge they need to navigate communal living settings confidently.
5. Support Services: Make international students aware of the various support services available to assist them in adjusting to their studies and life in Australia. That includes academic support, counseling, and resources for mental and physical well-being.
6. Work Rights and Obligations: International students who want to work while studying in Australia should be aware of their employment rights and responsibilities. Please provide them with up-to-date information on employment limits to ensure they remain legal.
GSAAA is committed to establishing a secure, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere for international students as they begin their educational adventures in Australia by stressing these essential areas. Our combined efforts will not only ensure legal compliance but will also add to international students’ overall positive experience at our universities.
