Qatar Foundation Hosts International Forum to Empower Counselors Supporting Future Leaders

The Academic Bridge Program (ABP) at Qatar Foundation (QF) hosted the International Career and College Counselling (IC3) Regional Forum Doha, bringing together education experts to empower counselors guiding young adults towards their academic future.

The forum, held on February 22nd, 2024, aimed to equip counselors with effective learning strategies to support students navigating the transition from high school to university. Over 50 representatives from five countries participated in the program, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Dr. Saheim K Al-Temimi, Director of ABP, highlighted the importance of the forum: “We are honored to host educational leaders dedicated to shaping the future of education in our region. ABP actively contributes to building a skilled workforce through collaborative efforts with schools and universities, bridging gaps and enhancing academic preparedness for students seeking higher education.”

Francisco Marmolejo, President of Higher Education and Education Advisor at QF, emphasized the unique environment offered by QF: “The IC3 forum showcased Qatar Foundation’s innovative approach, providing students with a tailored educational journey through various partner universities in Education City. Additionally, practical experience opportunities are available through the over 50 entities under QF’s umbrella.”

Dr. Mohammad Al-Kuwari, Director of Student Life at QF, commended the initiative’s impact: “This forum enriches guidance for students and creates a valuable platform for counselors to collaborate and share insights. Effective counselors rely on strong communication and understanding of student challenges. Their participation in such initiatives significantly improves students’ future prospects.”

Ganesh Kohli, Founder of the IC3 Movement, stressed the importance of continuous learning for educators: “Our initiative focuses on enhancing the educational landscape. Educators and counselors must continuously evolve and learn. Many teachers rely on outdated materials, highlighting the need for adaptation and professional development investment.”
